Practice at the Grand Prix was delayed by 10 minutes after a huge crash in the Formula 3 race.
Australian Alex Peroni was launched into the air by a kerb at the Parabolica corner that was rapid and landed upside down on the barrier. He was unhurt.
Race officials caused the delay removing the kerb, which was put to prevent drivers running wide and improving their period.
Drivers will now have two lap instances deleted should they run broad.
Peroni’s car was started when he ran broad and clipped the the’s leading edge was put there to dissuade drivers from running wide as they depart the corner.
The car was lifted to the air before landing upside down on the tyre barrier and cement wall and it somersaulted and twisted a number of occasions.
Peroni was seen walking together with the track and has been taken to the center for a precaution.
The episode will be analysed by FIA officials, as a spotlight falls upon if so-called’sausage kerbs’ – like some lean policeman – ‘ are ways of enforcing track limits at such rapid corners.
