Your Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys play with every other, it more than another match. Eagles vs. Cowboys is the stuff of legend.
As it is a true definition of an NFL rivalry ignore the records. OK, theBoys lead the all-time show 68-52.
But a few of them have a spot on the list of 10 Eagles games.
Fittingly, the first of two meetings is this weeks Sunday Night Football game on NBC. Both teams head in the competition with records.
Therefore, welcome to the official start of Eagles vs. Cowboys week. Allow accumulation and the hype begin.
On Monday, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Cowboys within a ancient 2-point favorite. It is, after all, a Cowboys home game.
The die-hard Birds fans out there, including myself, are looking forward to another second, besides the NJ sports gambling trash-talking and chatter.
The Eagles have surely delivered lots of these.
Below are my 10 hard to overlook Eagles-Cowboys moments (out of a Philly perspective, naturally ).
I prefer watching Eagles vs. Cowboys games at the comfort of home or, now, at among those 10 NJ sportsbooks. But its difficult to forget the 1999 game.
This is the one in which Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin had been stretchered off the field with a spinal cord injury that is career-ending. Yes, even the Eagles fans even cheered when it happened (I wasnt one of them).
Of course, the part I remember is deciding to depart early in the fourth quarter. The Birds trailed 10-0, and quite frankly I didnt believe they had any shot of winning.
My group proved me wrong. Then-quarterback Doug Pederson (yes, that Doug Pederson) and team chose to make a comeback after I made my departure.
Two Norm Johnson field targets along with a 28-yard touchdown pass remaining sealed the offer.
I listened to it all unfold about the car trip home.
I really have a difficult time coming up in Philadelphia with memories of this Chip Kelly era.
The University of Oregon head coach arrived with a lot of hype but did not live up to these expectations.
However, he did lead the Birds into an NFC East crown in his very first season.
The 24-22 victory over Dallas on Dec. 29, 2013, was a memorable one (the losers clinched a Wild Card).
But Kelly did not do it independently. LeSean McCoy rushed for 131 yards and caught a three-yard touchdown pass from some guy named Nick Foles (in his first go-around with all the Birds).
This is a battle. The Cowboys got within 2 points together with 3:50 remaining in the match. When the home team needed it , Brandon Boykin came up to clinch the win.
I have no problem admitting that Emmitt Smith is one of the perform.
His three Super Bowl rings have been proof.
When the Eagles defense made a massive stand at exactly the same time, I recall a few times.
The Dec. 10, 1995, game tops the record.
The score was tied 17-17, along with the Cowboys were facing a 4th and 1 in the fourth quarter. Smith got the ball but him stopped.
Not so fast. It was the two-minute warning; no drama.
So with another chance, the identical play ran. Same result!
The Birds got the ball back with an opportunity to win. Gary Anderson field goal gave us fans another reason to celebrate.
He had to kick it.
I recall having my family over. It happened to be the year the Eagles and with the Cowboys were playing.
So that we did not forget a moment of this match, the dining room table transferred to the family room.
It turns out we ended up enjoying two feasts, the one about the desk and the sole unfolding over the TV screen. Were speaking a 33-10 Birds victory.
McCoy was one of those stars for 159 yards, rushing in this . Such as a 38-yard touchdown. The defense sacked Tony Romo four occasions.
And everybody went home full and grateful.
Not every Eagles-Cowboys game is a high-scoring event. A perfect illustration of this happened on Dec. 17, 2007.
The last score: Eagles 10, Cowboys 6.
However, the ones most memorable part is.
Running back Brian Westbrook could have easily scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. He had a run but stopped just short of the finish zone. He took a knee at the 1-yard line.
At the moment, I had been thinking,Why not score the touchdown? You are right there!
In the history of Eagles vs. Cowboys matches, it still was a genius movement. Dallas had no timeouts left. Quarterback Donovan McNabb took a few knees, and the rest will be history.
Im one of the Eagles fans out there expecting DeSean Jackson is beneficial for the match of Sunday night.
Theres a reason . This recipient is capable of making a big play every time he grabs the ball.
A perfect illustration of this took place on Dec. 12, 2010, in Arlington, Texas.
Together with all the Eagles vs. Cowboys match tied 20-20, the people started their driveway on the 9-yard line. What happened next is one of the longest and most exciting offense plays in franchise history.
Michael Vick handed the ball on what was a grab and run play. The Birds jumped out before 27-20, with close to 12 minutes to perform.
David Akers included a field goal to make the score 30-20.
Jacksons performance is just one still worth discussing now, although dallas obtained in three things. He ended receiving yards.
He gave fans and members of the network plenty to talk about, After the Eagles were being coached by Buddy Ryan.
This Thanksgiving Day game from 1989, aka the Bounty Bowl, is just one which people Eagles fans have a challenging time.
The Eagles and ryan were accused of placing a $200 bounty on Dallas kicker Luis Zendejas.
Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson that came along with the comments by Ryan were nearly as amusing as the match.
Incidentally, Philadelphia occurred to win the game 27-0.
The Eagles-Cowboys competition got heated in89, it is tough to overlook the sequel.
The hatred between these two teams resembled a WWE feud minus chair shots and the body slams.
Lets be clear, Eagles fans have real love for the Cowboys. After Dallas came to Philly on Dec. 10, 1989 (two weeks after Bounty Bowl), it had been like a enemy invasion.
Remember we are referring to a fan base that isnt scared to throw snowballs at Santa Claus.
The Eagles fans were outfitted with a complete arsenal of ice and snow . The Bounty Bowl signs hanging round the stadium made it obvious that this one went to get really ugly.
Anyone standing in the Cowboys sideline was an open goal. Luckily, I watched this one.
Trash talking is fine. Throwing snowballs and ice bystanders took things too far. Even the CBS announcers sitting in the stall even found themselves ducking since they were calling the game.
This Birds 20-10 victory over the 1-12 Cowboys stays a footnote that is heavy to the Bounty Bowl saga.
Lito Sheppard is not one of the players I would include on my list of Eagles of all time.
But when talking about the plays in this competition, he realized something I will never forget.
Whenever these 2 teams played in 2006, everybody believed Terrell Owens (the former Eagle playing for the Cowboys) was likely to hog the spotlight. The match took place.
Owens finished with just three catches.
Sheppard proven to be the playmaker in such a one. He ran 102 yards all the way to the finish zone and intercepted a Drew Bledsoe pass onto the Eagles line.
Eagles won 38-24.
Nothing says classic much better than an Eagles vs. Cowboys matchup for the NFC Championship game at the Vet. Talk about adding significance to a rivalry.
Being a young child at the moment, I do not just remember what I was doing with this exceptionally cold day (under freezing temps and powerful wind gusts) at January 1981.
The Philadelphia Phillies were fresh off his World Series win, along with the City of Brotherly Love was starving for much more.
Together with the national spotlight now on the Birds, among the best players ever to wear white and the green delivered large time. 42 yards hurried at to pay an early edge along with dirt.
Two Tony Franklin area objectives along with a late 9-yard operate by Leroy Harris sealed the 20-7 victory.
And FINALLY, my Eagles went into the Super Bowl.
Naturally, it ended up taking almost another 40 years until I experienced that the Super Bowl celebration in front.
