Wimbledon’s chief executive, Richard Lewis, says he’ll resign after the next year’s deadline.
After eight years in the job and his death coincides with the handover of the use of Wimbledon chairman from Philip Brook to Ian Hewitt lewis will leave.
Beneath Lewis there was a 160 per cent increase in participant prize cash, Court No. 1 had been rebuilt and the grass-court season was extended.
The former British Davis Cup participant said in a statement on Wimbledon’s website:”It has been a huge privilege to become chief executive of the club and to play a part in the continuing development of this club along with The Championships.
“Given the election of a new chairman in Ian Hewitt, along with the maturation of the following master plan for the full breadth of the grounds, it’s the perfect time for me to measure ”
Brook claims the 64-year-old has given”a phenomenal period of modification that will long be recognized in our own history”.
Lewis joined the All England Club at 2012 as chief executive, having been chairman of chair of Sport England and the Rugby Football League since 2002 because 2009.
