Gone but not forgotten: Union Berlin remembers deceased fans in moving tribute

(CNN) — There is a special bond between German soccer club Union Berlin and its fans and the proximity of the relationship was honored in a philosophical manner during the weekend because the group made its Bundesliga introduction.
Ahead of Saturday’s game against RB Leipzig, Union assistants held up placards of deceased loved ones together with the inscription”Edlich dabei” (Eventually there).
The deceased were even counted at the presence. The Stadion An der Alten F??rsterei’s official capacity is listed as 22,402, however, Saturday’s attendance was recorded as 22,467.
The stadium, that’s the largest football floor in Berlin, has been opened in 1920, but has experienced a series of changes.
According to the club site, Union lovers”assembled their very own arena,” with over 2,300 volunteers supplying 140,000 hours of labor time, assisting the Berlin team save countless dollars.

Saturday’s tribute was organized by a collection of fan groups, with images of the deceased fans increased before kick-off since the club’s anthem rang out. The tickets’ costs were paid for by fans.
However, the introduction to the Bundesliga of Union proved that a rough one — they were hammered 4-0 from Leipzig.
Last season Union finished third in the second grade of football to make a playoff from VfB Stuttgart.
Union’s subsequent two-legged success and marketing watched the club become the first from the fifth and East Berlin from the former East Germany to obtain passage into the Bundesliga.
