Fundamental Odds and Betting Options
There are many betting options for boxing and each takes a different approach. Here we will clarify the moneyline, method of victory bets and complete rounds wagers.

Moneyline
This is a frequent wager for boxing fans and just needs you to decide on a winner. Everything you win will depend on the betting lines. Couldn’t that be an awesome band name? The betting line — the real line not the imitation band — is a method for the sportsbooks to ascertain who should win a fight and how convincingly.

Boxing moneyline odds would seem something like this:

Rocky +130

Apollo Creed -160

In this case Apollo Creed is your favorite and you would need to wager $160 to win $100. Rocky is the underdog which means you would only have to wager $100 to win $130.

The above example between Philadelphia’s favorite son as well as The Dancing Destroyer is thought to be a competitive matchup. But, there are times where you are going to see boxers listed as enormous favorites with lines such as -10000. You’d have to bet $10,000 to win $100. An illustration of a matchup with a massive favorite could be a fight between Anthony Joshua and Alexander Povetkin. When they fought September of 2018, the chances were Joshua -1100 and Povetkin +650.

FYI – Favorites are constantly represented with minus signs (-). Underdogs are always represented with plus signs (+). This is consistent across every sport. Method of Victory

Let us use the same Rocky vs Creed example. Instead of gambling on Creed to win (-160), you can bet on Creed to win by knockout (+160). If Creed does win via knockout, you would win your moneyline wager and you would win your method of success wager too.

Total Rounds
If you’re looking for one more take on boxing betting, try total rounds. This involves betting on the number of rounds a fight will proceed. You’ll see a line that looks something like this:

O/U 11.5 rounds (-120/+105)

If you think the fight will finish within 11.5 rounds, you’d wager the UNDER (that is exactly what the U stands for). If you feel the fight will go beyond 11.5 rounds, then you’d be that the OVER (that is what the O stands for). The numbers in the brackets work the same as the lines in our other illustrations. The favorite is -120 along with the underdog is +105.
